Ray's journey in the world of mixed martial arts began at a young age. He took his first steps in martial arts by starting Taekwondo training at the age of 4. Later, at 15, Ray delved into the art of Muay Thai, where he tested his skills in amateur competitions. Always seeking to enhance his martial arts arsenal, Ray ventured into grappling at the age of 17, aiming to seamlessly fuse different styles like wrestling, boxing, and judo into his fighting repertoire, earning his black belt in Jiu Jitsu 2019 under the Legendary Roger Gracie

In the year 2010, Ray crossed paths with former Cage Warriors champion, Danny Batten. Under Danny's guidance, Ray honed his diverse skill set and transitioned into the world of mixed martial arts competition. This collaboration proved fruitful as Ray remained undefeated in 7 consecutive fights, showcasing his evolution as a well-rounded MMA athlete.

In 2013, Ray made a decision to step away from active competition to focus on coaching alongside Danny at the prestigious BST academy. Despite hanging up his competitive gloves, Ray's thirst for knowledge and growth remained insatiable. He dedicated himself to daily training sessions and embarked on journeys around the globe to train at elite camps, constantly seeking to absorb new insights and training methodologies to elevate the performance of the BST fight team.
